MEIER ENERGY

The future will be electric. There should be no more doubt about that today.
In the near or distant future, thanks to the development of renewable energy sources, electricity will become more abundant, and its cost will decrease to the point where it will be cheaper than oil and gas.
As technology advances, storing electricity will become easier, and it will eventually replace all other forms of energy. It will power airplanes, cars, trucks, motorcycles, ships, and even launch rockets. It will also operate factories at 100%, heat buildings, in addition to lighting streets and homes.

However, this progress will not come without challenges. As we are already seeing, with the widespread use of electronics, equipment has become much more sensitive to transients and other electrical power anomalies. In the past, equipment was relatively protected from short-term electrical fluctuations and did not feed problems back into the utility grid. Now, with the introduction of non-linear devices (inverters, chargers, switching power supplies, etc.), harmonics are created, which can affect the customer’s equipment, that of their neighbors, and even the utility’s equipment.

Our industry will inevitably evolve, and all its players along with it.
To identify the source of these issues, customers, utilities, and consultants are increasingly equipping themselves with measurement tools to monitor, record, and analyze these phenomena.
Electricity distributors will face increasing pressure and, in turn, will be required to hold polluters and other public grid disruptors accountable.

Meier Energy is contributing to the energy transition by developing solutions for:

  • Energy measurement and metering
  • Assessment and monitoring of power quality
