Description

The ActivSine® series active harmonic filter operates on a three-level topology circuit. It provides power quality solutions such as harmonic elimination, real-time automatic power factor correction, and load balancing. It is available in three versions: a wall-mounted enclosure version, ranging from 30A to 150A, a rack-mountable version for standard 19” cabinets, ranging from 30A to 150A, and a cabinet version, ranging from 100A to 600A.

Its modular design allows users to easily achieve the desired filter current capacity by connecting up to 20 modules in parallel.

Wall-mounted AHF
Rack-mounted AHF
Fixed AHF cabinets

Operating principle of the active harmonic filter:

Advantages of the three-level topology:

  • The active harmonic filter operates on a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) topology. As shown in the figure below, the traditional structure of the 2-level topology circuit consists of 6 IGBTs (2 IGBT power devices on each phase pin and current path), and in the 3-level topology, there are 12 IGBTs (in each phase, 4 IGBT power devices on the pins and current paths).

  • The three-level topology circuit can generate three voltage levels at the output, including the positive DC bus voltage, the zero voltage, and the negative DC bus voltage. Two-level topology circuits can only produce positive and negative voltages. At the same time, the three-level topology circuit also ensures higher quality output voltage and better harmonics, thereby reducing requirements for output filters and associated costs.
